QBasic is not bad, but try QuickBasic 4.5 instead. Almost the same with the advantage that QuickBasic 4.5 can compile .EXE programs.

Easiest to learn. Before they made it difficult by trying to emulate others with peeks, pokes, and machine language tack on routines.
